CO-OP PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES

As a cooperative preschool parent, you should anticipate a significant amount of family involvement. This is a general list of the requirements; they may vary depending on the school year and the needs of ECNS.

-WORKING IN THE CLASSROOM-A parent or other trusted adult will work in the classroom approximately twice a month, once as the ‘snack parent’ and once as the ‘helper parent’. Both require you to stay the entirety of your child’s class and work as an assistant to Miss Katie.

-FUNDRAISING-Our largest fundraiser is our annual auction, which generally takes place in the fall. Families are required to solicit donations, help with planning, set up and/or clean up, and attend the auction. Other fundraising for the year will be determined based on the success of the auction.

-COMMITTEE WORK-Each family will join a committee; examples include maintenance, photography, supplies or curriculum change committees.

-MONTHLY CLEANING-Each family is assigned one time during the preschool year to deep clean the preschool, along with other families, outside of in-session preschool times.

While the above list may seem overwhelming, in actuality the time commitment is very manageable and most families find they really enjoy their time working at the preschool and with Miss Katie!

IN THE CLASSROOM

Our teacher, Miss Katie, keeps the school year interesting and educational by regularly changing up the curriculum in the classroom. She has multiple themes throughout the school year and the books, music, story time, art projects, dress up, classroom decoration and guest speakers or field trip will revolve around that theme. Some of our favorite curriculums include Community Helper month and Healthy Habit month.
