MEET OUR TEACHER

Miss Katie has been teaching at ECNS for 20 years! She has a BS in child development and enjoys every aspect of teaching. Miss Katie lives in Eatonville with her husband Mike who is also a teacher and baseball coach at Eatonville High School. They have two grown boys who are both ECNS alumni. In her own words, “A preschool teacher has the privilege of providing a child’s first educational experience, and my goal is to make that experience the best it can be for each of my students. In a unique program like ECSN, you make connections and build relationships, both children and adults. This quote from the great Mr. Rogers captures the heart of our cooperative nursery school program:”
“In every neighborhood, all across our country, there are good people insisting on a good start for the young, and doing something about it.” -Fred Rogers
HISTORY OF OUR ONE ROOM SCHOOLHOUSE

Our building was built in 1892 and was the very first school in Eatonville. When it was brand new, it was located across the street from the current Eatonville High School building. As time went on, the small schoolhouse needed to be removed to make room for new buildings. Thankfully, the two people responsible for the job were thinking of the future and decided to save the building. Clyde Williams and T.C. VanEaton used their team of horses to relocated the building to a different location. It was moved to it’s current spot thanks to the Historical Society and has provided the youngest of our citizens a nurturing environment since 1975.
